feeling as though you cant take a deep breath is known in the medical community as dyspnea. It can be a symptom of a number of conditions, including asthma, copd, and anxiety. when you cant take deep breaths, it can cause anxiety or the feeling of not having enough air. Our body naturally compensates with yawns or sighs, but this isnt always effective in relieving the need for more air. pain with deep breathing is a sensation of sharp, stabbing or burning pain when you inhale or exhale. You may feel pain taking a deep breath on the left side, right side, in the center, or in the back. You may also notice the pain is worse in certain positions, such as when lying down. the treatment for difficulty taking deep breaths depends on the cause. If you are having chest pain with your trouble breathing, then you need to get to a hospital and take some supplemental oxygen. Even if you are only having minor chest pain and trouble breathing, supplemental oxygen is likely to help you feel better and allow you to catch your breath. I dont really have chest pain though aside from unrelated excess gas, but i always have this problem, some days my breathing is better but i know its still there, other days im struggling to take deep breaths to be satisfied and i feel like my lungs are constricted, and all the stuff you said about trying not to focus on it and it seemingly getting better or whatever. I have been feeling a little better lately meaning i havent had the big lump in the throat feeling. However, i have noticed that upon taking a really deep breath that i feel a little pain in my chest. I have no idea if this could be related to what ive been going through though. i feel the need to take deep breaths in because i dont feel like im getting enough oxygen. It will happen randomly throughout the day, meaning sometimes my breathing returns to normal and im not conscious of it. Starting today i had some tightness in my upper chest, mostly near my throat, but it slowly has moved a little down to my breast area.
